Terms & Conditions

Compass Seniors' Services o/a Connections for Seniors

‍

Last updated: October 6, 2026

‍

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern use of connectionsforseniors.ca and seniorszone.ca, including the community and account features available on The Seniors Zone. Both sites are operated by Compass Seniors' Services, operating as Connections for Seniors (“CFS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

‍

1. Scope and agreement

‍

These Terms address browsing, general inquiry forms, accounts and community participation. Separate agreements may apply to a CFS program or a linked service. These Terms do not set purchase, donation, rental or booking conditions.

Please read these Terms before using interactive features. Where an acceptance step is presented, agreeing to these Terms forms the agreement for that feature. If you do not agree, do not create an account or submit community content. You can contact CFS by telephone or email for information and assistance. Nothing here removes rights that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

‍

2. Visitors and service eligibility

‍

Anyone may browse our public information or contact CFS. Our client services are for adults aged 55 and older; individual programs may have additional eligibility and availability requirements. Contacting us, creating an account or participating online does not establish eligibility for a client service.

The Seniors Zone is a social and information hub for seniors. Any additional eligibility requirements for an account or feature will be stated when you register or use it. A person creating an account must be able to enter the applicable agreement or have a parent, guardian or other legally authorized representative’s involvement where required by law.

‍

3. General inquiry forms

‍

A general form sends an inquiry to CFS. It does not confirm a place in a program, establish a booking, or guarantee a service or response time. Provide accurate information relevant to your inquiry and obtain permission before submitting someone else’s details. Do not include MCP numbers, detailed medical records, financial documents, or other sensitive records in a general form; ask staff about an appropriate intake process.

‍

4. Account responsibilities

‍

For Seniors Zone features that require an account, provide accurate registration information, keep it reasonably current and protect your sign-in credentials. Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation, or access an account without authorization. You are responsible for content you submit and actions you authorize through your account.

Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. Use any available account-closure tools, or contact us to request closure. Account and record handling remain subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable retention obligations.

‍

5. Respectful and lawful use

‍

Help keep The Seniors Zone welcoming and useful. When posting, commenting, uploading material, submitting listings, or otherwise interacting, you must not:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, exploit or target another person, or promote hatred or discrimination.
  • Post unlawful, defamatory, sexually exploitative or otherwise abusive material, or share private information or intimate images without lawful authority.
  • Impersonate CFS staff or another member, mislead users about an affiliation, or knowingly publish false or deceptive claims.
  • Solicit passwords, payment details or sensitive records; conduct scams; pressure members for money; or send spam or unsolicited commercial promotions.
  • Upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with website operation, evade access restrictions, or extract member information for unsolicited contact or profiling.
  • Upload or publish material you do not have the right to use, including another person’s photographs, documents or copyrighted work.

Genuine differences of opinion and respectful criticism are welcome. Present personal experiences as your own and distinguish opinion from factual claims. Commercial promotions or promotional listings require CFS’s authorization unless the relevant feature expressly permits them.

‍

6. Reporting concerns

‍

Report concerning content, suspected scams, impersonation or account misuse to frontdesk@connectionsforseniors.ca. Include a link or enough detail to identify the issue, while avoiding unnecessary sensitive information. Community posts and inquiry forms are not emergency channels and are not continuously monitored. For an immediate emergency, call 911.

‍

7. What you share and who can see it

‍

Member content can include profile material, posts, comments, listings, photographs and uploaded documents. Check the feature’s audience and any available visibility controls before submitting. Material shared publicly may be viewed, copied or redistributed by others, including people outside the community. Do not assume that an account makes all content private.

Share only material you are authorized to publish. Avoid posting health records, identification numbers, home contact details, or another person’s information without their permission. Member views are their own; appearing on the site does not mean CFS endorses them or has verified every claim, identity or listing.

‍

8. Ownership and limited permission for member content

‍

You retain ownership of the content you create. For content you choose to share with an audience through the community, you give CFS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, store, copy, format and display it to that audience, and to moderate it, solely as needed to operate and administer the website. We may allow our technology providers to do this on our behalf for those purposes.

This permission does not authorize publication of a private inquiry, private message or restricted upload to a wider audience. It does not authorize using your content in an external advertising campaign; separate permission would be needed. It does not transfer copyright or waive your moral rights.

When content is removed or your account is closed, this permission ends for ongoing display, subject to reasonable technical removal time and retention needed for backups, legal requirements, or handling a reported concern. Removing your original content may not remove copies already made by other people. Handling of personal information remains governed by the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

‍

9. Moderation and access restrictions

‍

We may review or remove content and restrict or suspend community access where reasonably necessary to address a breach of these Terms, protect users or website security, comply with law, or investigate a reported concern. We may act without prior notice where urgency or safety requires it. Where practicable, we explain the reason; you may contact us to request a review.

We do not guarantee that every contribution is reviewed before publication or that all harmful content will be detected. Restricting a website account does not, by itself, decide eligibility for CFS client services or prevent you from contacting CFS through other available channels.

‍

10. Using CFS information and resources

‍

We aim to provide useful information, but content, dates, availability and outside service details can change. Verify important details with CFS or the organization concerned before relying on them. General articles and community discussions are not individualized medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and do not establish a professional-client relationship. Seek appropriate professional advice for your circumstances.

‍

11. Copyright and sharing CFS materials

‍

Website content belongs to CFS or the relevant rights holder. Unless a resource states different conditions, you may download, print and share CFS-owned articles and informational resources for personal or non-commercial community use. Credit Connections for Seniors, include the source website link where practicable, retain copyright and attribution notices, and do not alter the meaning or imply endorsement.

This permission does not automatically cover partner-owned content, member contributions, photographs, videos, logos, website software or design. Obtain the relevant permission unless the item provides its own licence or applicable law permits the use. Contact us about commercial reuse or other uses outside this permission. These Terms do not limit lawful copyright exceptions, including applicable fair dealing.

‍

12. Links and embedded services

‍

Our sites may link to or embed outside services, including forms, event tools, videos, maps, social platforms, and Squarespace/First Point pages. These services may have their own terms and privacy notices. Review those before using the service. A link or listing alone is not an endorsement or assurance of accuracy, suitability or safety.

CFS does not control independent providers or member-to-member dealings. Check an organization’s identity and details before sharing information or acting on a listing. These Terms do not displace CFS’s responsibilities for its own conduct or for providers processing information on its behalf.

‍

13. Privacy and communications

‍

Our Privacy Policy, available through the website’s privacy link, explains collection, use, disclosure, safeguards, retention and privacy requests. Account, content visibility and moderation notices may provide additional detail at the point of use.

Acceptance of these Terms does not, by itself, provide consent to optional newsletters, advertising tracking, publication of private information or other processing requiring separate consent. Service and account messages may be sent where permitted; optional promotional communications remain subject to applicable consent and unsubscribe requirements.

‍

14. Availability and limitations

‍

We may maintain, update, change or discontinue website features. We aim to provide reasonable notice of significant planned changes affecting members, where practicable. Availability may be affected by maintenance, technical failures or services outside our control. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free content or compatibility with every device.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the websites and general information are provided as available, without additional warranties of accuracy, completeness or suitability for a particular purpose. To that same extent, CFS is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from website use or unavailability.

These limitations do not exclude liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. They do not waive mandatory consumer protections, privacy rights or other statutory rights, or reduce CFS’s obligations under applicable law. No provision should be read as a guarantee that interacting with another member is safe.

‍

15. Changes to these Terms

‍

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in features, operations or legal requirements. We will display the revised date and give reasonable notice of material changes affecting registered users, where practicable. We will request renewed acceptance where required. Changes apply prospectively; posting revised Terms does not itself provide any separate privacy consent.

‍

16. Governing law and resolving concerns

‍

These Terms are governed by the laws of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, subject to any mandatory protections that apply to you. Disputes may be brought before the courts of Newfoundland and Labrador unless applicable law requires or permits another forum.

You may contact CFS to seek an informal resolution, but doing so is not a condition of exercising a statutory right, contacting a regulator or bringing a lawful claim. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. Any separate feature-specific terms must be clearly identified when you use that feature and cannot remove non-waivable rights.
